Dear Students,
I'm excited to let you know we will continue our live critique sessions in 2026.
It was so gratifying for me to watch each person develop their work and gain confidence with each passing month. In addition, students created their own network of support and communication with one another between the monthly sessions.
Consistency is one of the keys to keys to a maintaining an artistic practice of any kind. Distractions and responsibilities can get in the way of even the most dedicated painter. Having a scheduled time to share your work with a group of equally committed peers keeps the focus on the importance of “showing up” for your own goals
In 2026, we will cap each three month quarter at 10 students. This allows ample time for questions, interaction, and individual attention.
Students who participate in critique groups often find the experience inspirational in ways they never imagined. As a teacher, I find it incredibly inspiring as well.
Creative work is unpredictable, and I will support any direction your work needs to take. Please let me know if you have any questions about the 2026 critiques!
I hope to see you and your work soon.
Onward!

Choose any subject
You may work on any subject you choose for each quarterly session...or continue with the same subject throughout the year. The only requirement is stay focused on the same subject for the entire quarter. This will allow the group to offer the most effective support. If you're unsure about which subject to choose, reach out to Kathy. She's always happy to answer questions and offer guidance.
Receive consistent feedback on the work you submit
In each live Zoom session, Kathy will give you personal feedback, encouragement, and suggestions on your ongoing body of work. Although you may enroll in any one or more of the sessions, you'll get maximum benefit when you commit to a full year.
Get inspired!
As artists, we frequently work alone. The combination of ongoing feedback and collegial support can lead to amazing breakthroughs in creativity. If you have any questions about how the live critiques might benefit your creative practice, shoot Kathy an email.
"I had lost my way...so many life interruptions. Then I found out about Kathy's critique classes. During the past twelve months, I've found a rhythm of practice. As a teacher, Kathy has a way of communicating that is so respectful. Everything she does is beautiful...how she speaks to us and cares for her students. I feel so elated about my practice now. The critique classes have been amazing ."
