Despite their delicate appearance, spring flowers are powerfully designed pieces of living architecture. In this class, we will study their essential geometric structure using graphite and charcoal.
The slow investigation of form through drawing is one of the most satisfying experiences one can have as an artist. This practice is also an essential part of preparation for a painting. In this class we will cover the basic technical skills needed to approach this complex subject. For extra inspiration, flowers used in this class will be chosen by students from the garden here at Rush Hollow Studio!
The limited class size will ensure a supportive group experience with plenty of individual instruction.
This two day class is the perfect preparation for “Spring Flower Painting Workshop”.
We'll stock the class supplies you need to minimize the hassle and expense of bringing your own. The materials list includes the following:
Indoor easels, tables, lights, vases, flowers, paper, pencils, charcoal, erasers.
You may also choose to bring your own outdoor easel and any other favorite materials as well.
We'll provide a light lunch each day.
To ensure you receive individual guidance, we limit the class size to ten students. This also provides an intimate and supportive environment for exploration.
Rush Hollow Studio is tucked into the rolling countryside of southwestern Vermont near the New York State border. This whole area provides rich inspiration for painting, drawing, and other creative pursuits. A creek with several small waterfalls, farm fields, woods, gardens, and wildlife habitat are all within walking distance of the barn.
The riding around Rush Hollow Studio is superb.
If you will be traveling with someone who likes to ride bikes, Parker can serve up daily rides, short or long, flat or hilly, slow or as fast as he can go. Whether it's riding on the local paved roads, gravel roads, or MTB trails, cycling around southwestern Vermont and upstate New York is fantastic.
The studio is within driving distance of both Boston and New York (but a world away!). Click on this link for information about traveling by car, rail, or air: Traveling to Rush Hollow
