In this single-session technique class, Kathleen demonstrates a wipe-out underpainting technique. Unlike a traditional wash in ground, this method allows for a fluid way to construct a monochrome composition. The surface is prepared with a layer of linseed oil and umber paint. With trees as the subject matter, she'll use various tools to subtract the paint. The approach gives painters a rapid way to assess the effectiveness of the overall composition.
